Queen Camilla turned Wimbledon into a royal occasion once again as she arrived at SW19 for a sun-soaked day of tennis, family moments and British sporting hope.

The Queen, 78, appeared in the Royal Box with her younger sister Annabel Elliot, continuing a much-loved family tradition at the Championships. The sisters, who have attended Wimbledon together many times over the years, watched from one of the most famous seats in sport as the crowd prepared for a huge afternoon on Centre Court.

Also drawing attention were newlyweds Peter and Harriet Phillips, who took their places nearby after tying the knot in Gloucestershire last month. Peter looked polished in a light grey blazer and navy trousers, while Harriet made a bright courtside statement in a checked lime and blue Emilia Wickstead ensemble. Their appearance added another note of royal glamour to an already star-filled day.

But the biggest sporting storyline belonged to Arthur Fery. The 23-year-old British wild card, who grew up close to the All England Club, walked out for what many described as the match of his life against Italian number 10 seed Flavio Cobolli. After four unexpected wins, Fery admitted before the match that his Wimbledon run was something he “couldn’t have imagined” when the tournament began.
Centre Court was alive with tension and excitement. Champagne corks popped, the crowd murmured with anticipation and shouts of “Come on Arthur!” rang out as the hometown hopeful began strongly against his higher-ranked opponent. On a sweltering day in London, with temperatures climbing above 32C, fans used hats, handheld fans and umbrellas to shield themselves from the heat.

Camilla had already made a warm impression before taking her seat. Wearing a turquoise Anna Valentine dress, she visited the players’ area beside Centre Court and greeted former British number one Heather Watson, who later described the Queen as “super down-to-earth”. Camilla also met ball crew members, long-serving Wimbledon staff and Richard Gammage, chief executive of City Harvest, a charity working to tackle food waste at the tournament.

The Royal Box was packed with famous faces. Elle Fanning, Dominic West, Bear Grylls, Emily Mortimer, Joe Root, Richard Krajicek, Zara and Mike Tindall, Geri and Christian Horner, and several other public figures joined the crowd for day ten of the Championships.

For royal fans, the afternoon offered everything Wimbledon does best: elegant outfits, famous faces, family warmth and a British player chasing a dream on Centre Court. With Queen Camilla watching on, Peter and Harriet Phillips enjoying one of their first major public outings as newlyweds, and Arthur Fery carrying home hopes into the biggest test of his career, SW19 delivered a truly royal day of tennis.
