King Charles has reportedly been reunited with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in what could become one of the most significant private royal moments in years.

According to the report, the King and Queen Camilla secretly hosted Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their two children at Highgrove, Charles’s private Gloucestershire residence, after days of speculation over whether a family meeting would happen during the Duke of Sussex’s UK visit.
The gathering was said to have taken place away from public view, with no photographs expected to be released. Buckingham Palace declined to discuss the details, describing the meeting only as a private family occasion.

For Charles, the moment would have carried deep personal meaning. The King had not seen Archie and Lilibet in person since the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022, when the children were much younger. Since then, the Sussexes have been based in California, and Harry has repeatedly said that security concerns made it difficult for him to bring his family back to Britain.
The reported reunion came during a dramatic week for Harry. He arrived in the UK on Monday for engagements linked to the Invictus Games and other causes close to him. Earlier in the week, he also lost his High Court case against Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Daily Mail, after a judge dismissed the claims in full.

Amid that legal setback, reports built that Meghan, Archie and Lilibet could travel to Britain from Europe without attending any public events. The suggestion immediately triggered speculation that a private meeting with the King might finally be possible.
Highgrove offered a discreet setting. The Gloucestershire home is closely associated with Charles and lies within reach of both Oxfordshire, where the King had official duties, and Birmingham, where Harry was promoting the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games.
While the meeting may be read as a sign of a thaw between father and son, palace insiders were reportedly cautious. The relationship between Harry and the wider Royal Family has been strained for years following interviews, the Sussexes’ Netflix series and Harry’s memoir Spare. The report suggested aides had hoped any reconciliation would remain quiet, peaceful and family-focused.
The emotional stakes are also high because Charles is still living with cancer. For a grandfather who has had limited contact with his California-based grandchildren, even a private, carefully managed encounter would be viewed by many royal watchers as a major step.
However, the wider royal rift is far from resolved. The report made clear that while relations between Harry and his father may have softened, there is still no sign of a breakthrough with Prince William. At the time of the reported Highgrove meeting, William was playing in a charity polo match in Windsor while Princess Kate watched from the sidelines.
Harry, meanwhile, remained focused publicly on Invictus. During his Birmingham appearance, he took part in wheelchair rugby, promoted the 2027 Games and spoke warmly about his family, saying he loved them and was proud of them.
For now, the Highgrove meeting remains private. But if the King has indeed spent time with Archie and Lilibet again after four years apart, it could be remembered as a quiet but powerful turning point in one of the most closely watched family divides in modern royal history.
