Adam Thomas’ twin, Love Island star Scott Thomas, has admitted he was ‘so angry’ watching his brother in I’m A Celebrity
South Africa after the actor admitted he had been ‘broken’ by former boxer David Haye.

The Waterloo Road star took to social media over the weekend to speak out on his and David’s time in the Savannah after viewers were left furious at the sportsman’s treatment of Manchester-born Adam during recent episodes of the I’m A Celebrity
Get Me Out of Here spin-off.

Despite the series being pre-recorded last year, fans were quick to call for David to be removed from camp for his treatment of his fellow campmates, particularly Adam.

During Friday’s (April 17) episode of the All Stars version of the ITV reality series, which will see one of 12 returning I’m A Celeb stars crowned a show ‘legend’, Adam was seen lying in bed as he admitted he wasn’t feeling well.

Reality star Gemma Collins tried to cheer him up by jokingly spoon feeding him. But when it came time to decide who was doing the next Bushtucker Trial, Adam, who has arthritis, was put forward by David, but said that it would be hard for him to do due to him feeling dehydrated.

This led to boxer David calling him out in front of his campmates. “Dehydrated?! We’ve all got the same amount of water! Adam is doing it and that’s it!” he fumed. When Adam said he could do it, but he wouldn’t be on his top form and it wouldn’t benefit the rest of camp, David continued: “When is your top form gonna come?” While Adam laughed it off, David continued to his other campmates: “Why aren’t we forcing this dude to go and do it. Coincidentally, every time there’s something to do, he’s not feeling well!”

The likes of Scarlett Moffatt stepped in to tell David to lay off Adam and eventually, Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts agreed to head out on the trial. But viewers were angered by David’s treatment of Adam, which has now led to the former Emmerdale star speaking out.

Adam took to Instagram on Sunday (April 19) and shared a lengthy post opening up about how David affected him over the course of the pre-recorded series, which draws to a close with a live final this Friday (April 24). He wrote alongside a picture of him at the time of feeling unwell in his camp bed: “Not going to lie, this picture breaks my heart, as I know on the inside what I was dealing with and truth be told I thought it was all my fault. I now know that’s not the reality

“My time in I’m a Celebrity South Africa was one of the toughest things I’ve ever been through, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Watching it back hasn’t been easy at all. There were moments I felt pushed to my absolute limit, and if I’m honest, times I didn’t even recognise myself. Living with arthritis is something I don’t really talk about, as much as I should do
but in there it really took its toll.

“My biggest fight was pretending to put on a brave face and trying to hide the pain! that can be exhausting within itself. There were days my body just didn’t want to keep going, but I did.”

He continued: “I won’t sit here and say I handled everything perfectly, because I didn’t. I wish I spoke up for myself sooner. I wish I stood my ground instead of trying to keep the peace, but I’ve learned that being kind doesn’t mean being weak, and sometimes it takes going through tough moments to find your voice.

“Since coming out, I’ve taken time to process everything, and I’m in a much better place now. I let go of the anger, had the conversations I needed to have, and chose peace. “What I’m most proud of, is at times like this I wanted to walk, I wanted to quit but I didn’t .

“Even when I wanted to walk away, even when it felt like too much, I never give up! and that means everything to me. He broke me in there, he pushed me to my limits, and I’ve told David this and he’s apologised and that’s that! I’ve moved on now, am not one to hold a grudge.”

Thanking fans for their ‘lovely messages and all the kind words’, Adam noted that ‘we all face people and situations that try to break us’. But it didn’t take long for the post to rack up thousands of messages, including from his brothers as well as his past and present co-stars and fans.

It was twin brother Scott who expressed his anger, as he commented underneath the post: “I wish I could have been there for you my brother
it makes me so angry that you went through that
but I’m so proud of how you’ve come out of the other side of all this
the strongest you’ve ever been and on an incredible journey
standing in your power.”

He also shared Adam’s post to his Instagram Story and shared: “It’s tough watching my twin bro go through that in there
makes my blood boil! To see someone’s pure heart be tested like that is hard to watch, especially my brothers. But I understand he had to go through his own journey in there and the man he’s become during/ since this experience has made me so proud! Love you @adamthomas21 and will always have your back.”

Meanwhile, Adam and Scott’s older brother, former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas, tried to keep things light, as he responded to the post: “I would like to say i would stick up for you in there but hes not the guy to pick a fight with, we need to give @tonybellew a call bro.”
