Richard Madeley has shared an update on his health after missing two days of Good Morning Britain, revealing that he still feels âwashed outâ. The TV presenter was replaced by Paul Brand earlier this week on the ITV show after catching covid.
After missing two days at GMB, Richard returned today to host alongside colleague Susanna Reid. Susanna asked him this morning: âBy the way, I havenât said welcome back â and how are you feeling?ââ
Richard responded: âIâm clear of it. I had Covid, as you know. The active stage has gone now and Iâm okay again but it does leave you washed out.

âI feel like Iâm operating at 80% this morning so I hope it doesnât show.â
It was announced on Monday that Richard had pulled out of hosting GMB last minute due to falling ill. âWelcome to the programme, Richard Madeley, due to be on air this morning, a little bit poorly,â she said at the start of Mondayâs programme.
âSo get well soon Richard, watching from home as Paul Brand takes the hot seat.â ITV Newsâ UK Editor Paul added: âGet well soon, Richard, and come and help me out!
âI donât know what Iâm doing, and Iâve never sat next to you before either, so this is fresh territory for me.â Susanna added: âWhat fresh hell is this, you thought this morning, when you got the call.â
Paul continued: âItâs been very nice this morning, you gave me a hug when you arrived,â while Susanna quipped: âNot everyone gets a hug on this programme⌠former presenters included.â

Paul took to Instagram yesterday to speak about filling in once again, writing: âGood morning! @susannareid100 allowed me back. 6-9am @GMB and plenty to discuss as PM says heâll lead Labour into the next election (might not be his choice) and the Home Secretary receives criticism/praise from unexpected quarters for her sweary immigration speech.â
Many fans took to social media to praise Paul as a stand-in, describing him as a âbreath of fresh airâ. One viewer wrote: âPaul Brand should be a permanent presenter a joy to watch.â
Another said: â@PaulBrandITV so refreshing to see you on @gmb today. You donât interrupt or rude to your colleagues and guests. @itvnews @itn can we have more of Paul and less of @richardm56 present gmb @ITNProductions #gmb.â
