GB News came to a halt for an update on the migrant crisis in yet a brutal blow for Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Martin Daubney announced that dozens of illegal migrants have crossed the English Channel for the sixth consecutive day, making a mockery of Sir Keirâs pledge to âsmash the gangsâ. âSix consecutive days now. Clearly the previous governments couldnât stop the boats and this government cannot smash the gangs,â he said.
Reform UKâs Richard Tice slammed the governmentâs immigration policy and claimed the French are âlaughing at our naive stupidityâ after the UK government paid another ÂŁ660m to curb the problem. âHowâs that going, âsmashing the gangs?â Weâre well over 40,000 have now crossed since the general election and regrettably this is no surprise at all. Theyâve got no effective policy, theyâve just shovelled hundreds more millions of pounds to the French.
âMy concern is that money is being spurned around the authorities and the police in Northern France. They canât believe their luck. They are laughing at our naive stupidity and I fear thereâs a degree of corruption and malfeasance going on that we cannot believe.
âItâs getting worse!â
GB News presenter Christopher Hope interjected: âThere is no proof of what youâre fearing,â before explaining that small boats are now being launched from beaches further away.
Tice hit back: âOver the coming days and weeks, more evidence will come out which will show that this is just an abuse. How can it be getting better? Why are we sending them money?â
Political commentator Nigel Nelson argued that more immigrants would be coming over if the UK hadnât made that deal with France.
Doubling down on his views, Tice remarked: âWe were told send them the money and the boats will stop. The boats havenât stopped.â
The pair erupted into a shouting match, with Nelson pointing out that Sir Keir ânever said thatâ.
Tice retorted: âHe said heâs smash the gangs! And that hasnât worked.â
Hope then questioned how Reform would deal with the issue, pointing out that the UK is unable to send the boats back.
The politician responded: âWeâve said detain and deport immediately, which is what Tony Blair ironically did back in the early 2000s. They were detaining, processing, and within a fortnight an appeal took place.
âThey were only accepting about 20 per cent. Weâre now accepting about 70 to 80 per cent. We know it can be done. It was previously done by a Labour government with some cojones. Unfortunately, weâve got a Labour government thatâs got no guts, no courage and no leadership.
