Andrew Makes Rare Sandringham Appearance As Edward And Sophie Attend Horse Trials

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been seen during a rare public outing on the Sandringham estate, where he reportedly joined the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh at a horse driving event close to his new Norfolk home.
The former Duke of York, who has largely kept out of public view since moving to Marsh Farm, was said to have attended the Sandringham Horse Driving Trials on Sunday. The event also drew Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, with Sophie taking part in the SanDrivingHam Challenge.

According to reports, Andrew was spotted driving away from the event in a Land Rover Defender after watching part of the action. He is believed to have stayed away from the main arena and observed from a more secluded area, keeping the appearance low-key rather than stepping into the spotlight.
One onlooker claimed Andrew appeared keen not to be noticed, saying he entered and left quietly before Edward was later seen walking towards his car. The brief sighting quickly attracted attention because Andrew is now rarely seen at public events, apart from occasional glimpses near his home or while walking his dogs.
The appearance also puts renewed focus on his relationship with Edward and Sophie. Earlier this year, reports claimed the couple had visited Andrew at Marsh Farm in what was described as a brotherly welfare check, following his move away from Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Edward has also previously addressed the wider controversy surrounding his brother, saying it was important to remember the victims when asked about the issue during an appearance in Dubai. Andrew has repeatedly denied wrongdoing, but the scandal linked to his past association with Jeffrey Epstein has left him outside the official royal fold.
The latest outing comes after Andrew was absent from the Order of the Garter ceremony at Windsor Castle. In previous years, even after stepping back from public duties, he had still been able to attend some private elements of the event. This year, however, his absence underlined the scale of his changed position within the monarchy.
Sources have claimed that ceremonial days are especially difficult for Andrew because they highlight what he has lost: titles, public status, and a place in the formal rhythms of royal life. The rare Sandringham sighting therefore offered a small but telling glimpse of how his life now sits on the edge of the royal world rather than inside it.

There has also been scrutiny over reports that Andrew was able to sub-let cottages on the Royal Lodge estate while paying a minimal rent for the Windsor property. For now, Andrew’s appearance at the horse trials appears to have been brief and deliberately discreet. Yet even a quiet outing on the King’s Norfolk estate was enough to reignite interest in his isolation, his family ties, and the uneasy question of where he fits in a monarchy that has moved on without him.
