Coronation Streetâs Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd Grimshaw, has spoken about his characterâs future prospects.
Recently, Todd has endured a traumatic period on the cobbles due to his abusive partner Theo Silverton. Theo has been mistreating Todd for months, even manipulating him into marriage last month in a deeply troubling turn of events.
Following the exposure of his behaviour on the cobbles, Theo attempted to flee to Belfast with Todd. However, after Toddâs family and friends voiced their concerns and he discovered Theo might be implicated in Billy Mayhewâs death earlier this year, Todd informed Theo he no longer wished to relocate.
Theo responded by confining Todd to their bedroom, and when he attempted to break free, Theo brutally assaulted his husband. A bloodied Todd managed to escape the flat and fled to Sarah Plattâs home for assistance, where he lost consciousness.

Earlier this week, Todd courageously reported Theo to police, and in previews for next week, Todd intends to visit his mother Eileen and brother Jason in Thailand⊠but will Theo interfere?, reports the Daily Star.
Speaking about what lies ahead for his character, Todd actor Gareth, 45, told I Talk Telly via a video interview on Instagram: âItâs great that people are so invested in the story.
âDay-to-day, doing my supermarket shop, people are checking that Iâm alright, let alone Todd. So I do reassure people that it is acting, but actually youâve got every department around us as well coming to work every day, on the floor, filming those pretty tough scenes.
âJames [Cartwright who plays Theo] has been fully committed to playing Theo and thereâs been plenty to bounce off there. For that tension and that real gut-wrenching kind of involvement to work on screen, there has to be a sense of that on set as well.â
Hinting at what lies ahead for Todd, he continued: âI donât know the full arc of how the rest of this year might pan out. It does seem what will be available is a period to really see how Toddâs been changed by this experience and how, yeah, he now rebuilds the next phase.
âIâm always a little hesitant of complete happy endings because thereâs not always as much a story available on a show like ours in plain sailing.
âBut I think what is important is that weâre consistent with what Toddâs gone through and that thereâs space given to how he reinvents himself next. Iâm excited to see that next phase as well.â
