‘King Charles’ message of peace presents hidden meanings in a fractured world’
King Charles has delivered a message to start commemorations for the late Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday in which he says current world of events may have ‘troubled her deeply’
King Charles’ remarks on how unsettled his mother may have been, if alive today, suggest he too has struggled to come to terms with the many issues at the heart of a fractured world.
The late Queen did not live to see her disgraced son Andrew arrested by police and subject to 10 wide ranging investigations. While there has been criticism of her handling of her so-called favourite son after disturbing allegations concerning his relationship with the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, there is no doubt that the situation has since evolved into something much darker. Andrew has denied the allegations against him in connection with Jeffrey Epstein.
Many who knew her closely will also, on her behalf, breathe a sigh of relief that she did not witness the disintegration of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship with the royal family.
One could also wonder how she would feel about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continuing to complain about their lives within the royal fold while earning vast sums off the back of it.
The King has endured a difficult start to his reign. Controversy and illness have been present in equal measure and yet, according to recent polls, he is more popular than ever.
His stature has not diminished in the face of adversity. Indeed, even now he is putting the finishing touches to preparations for a controversial tour to the United States, at the behest of the government.
It is hoped Charles’s star power – and cordial relationship with President Donald Trump – will echo his message to the nation on the 100th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s birth.
Whatever challenges the world or individuals may face, we must join together to strive towards a better tomorrow, centred on peace and justice.
