The One Show presenter Alex Jones shared a tribute to a fellow BBC star, following the news of his tragic death.

The One Show’s Alex Jones paid tribute to a BBC star at the end of tonight’s show. The One Show presenters Alex Jones and JB Gill welcomed guests Ross Kemp, Jessie Ware and Kiell Smith-Bynoe on the sofa tonight.
At the end of the programme, they took the opportunity to pay tribute to Andy Kershaw, who has died aged 66.
The former BBC Radio 1 DJ and Live Aid presenter died on Thursday evening, his family confirmed. It had been announced in January that Kershaw had been diagnosed with cancer and was unable to walk.

Following the news of his death, his sister Liz, also known for her career in broadcasting, shared on X: “Thank you for all your messages of affection for our Andrew and kindness today. I’ve lost my best friend.”
Closing off The One Show tonight, Alex said: “Before we go, we wanted to take a moment to mention today’s sad news that DJ Andy Kershaw has died.
“He was best known for Radio 1 and Live Aid, and also presented a number of films for The One Show in the past.
“Our thoughts, of course, go out to his family and friends.”
Elsewhere in tonight’s programme, Alex was left with her head in her hands and declaring ‘I can’t cope’ after a mix-up.

The Welsh presenter had been questioning Ross on his return to EastEnders, as he reprises his role of Grant Mitchell.
The game show host will once again be joining Steve McFadden as the Mitchell brothers reunite for a poignant storyline focused on dementia.
However, Alex accidentally slipped up, mixing up ‘Mitchell’ with ‘Michelin’, the well-known tyre manufacturer whose character is a large stack of tyres.
She began: “Grant is coming back! This is the first time the Michelin…”
Realising her blunder, Alex had her head in her hands, saying: “I can’t cope,” as Ross joked: “I’m not that big, am I?”
“I can still get in the same leather jacket I got in 35 years ago,” he laughed.
She went on: “The Mitchell siblings! I don’t know what I was thinking!
Talking about his return, Ross went on to talk about the “rollercoaster” he faced filming, going from a tearful scene “sobbing your heart out” to a more light-hearted scene.
Speaking about the ongoing dementia storyline focused on another character, Ross added: “It was a real honour to be asked to be a part of all the work they’ve done for the last 17 months, and Steve, in particular, I have to say, thank you, because he is a wonderful actor.

“He’s been there for 35 years, Steve and I joined a long, long time ago, and if he didn’t open the door for me, I couldn’t do anything, and he is one of the most giving and one of the most talented actors I’ve ever worked with.”
The One Show airs weeknights from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
