Piers Morgan has revealed he has been hospitalised following a painful fall that left him with a broken hip — and a lengthy recovery ahead.

The broadcaster shared the shocking update with fans on Instagram, posting a selfie from his hospital bed alongside an X-ray image showing the severity of the injury.
Morgan explained that he fractured the neck of his femur after tripping on a small step inside a London hotel restaurant — a misjudgement that resulted in injuries so serious he required a full hip replacement.

Despite the ordeal, the 58-year-old appeared in good spirits, joking in his post that he “fell like a sack of spuds” after failing to notice the step.
Doctors have reportedly warned that the injury will restrict his movement for up to three months, advising him to avoid long-haul travel for at least 12 weeks as he recovers from surgery.
Ever the provocateur, Morgan even managed to inject humour into the situation, cheekily blaming Donald Trump for the mishap in his social media caption.
Friends, colleagues and fans quickly flooded the comments section with messages of support and well wishes.
Celebrity chef Fred Sirieix wrote: “Jeez — speedy recovery.”
Lorraine Kelly added: “You daft bugger — hope you are OK!”
Eamonn Holmes joked: “Sincere sympathy my friend, but I am the expert in this field… if you want advice or a visitor! Lucozade and grapes?”
Former cricketer Monty Panesar also chimed in, writing: “Wishing you a quick recovery so you can celebrate Arsenal’s success!”
The post sparked comparisons to a previous hospital stay in 2019, when Morgan was admitted with gastritis and duodenitis — conditions involving inflammation of the stomach and duodenum.
At the time, he famously blamed “vegan sausage rolls, Brexit and Donald Trump” for his condition.
Explaining his logic in a tongue-in-cheek Twitter post, Morgan wrote:
“Monday, 6.40am: I eat one mouthful of vegan sausage roll.
Friday, 11am: hospitalised for gastroscopy on inflamed, exploding innards.
I’m doing the maths.”
While this latest setback is far more serious, Morgan’s trademark humour appears firmly intact as he begins what is expected to be a challenging and carefully monitored recovery.
