Holly Hagan Urges Parents to Act Quickly After Sonâs Eye Infection Diagnosis
Holly Hagan, star of Geordie Shore, recently shared a concerning health scare involving her young son, Alpha-Jax Blyth, urging fellow parents to be vigilant and seek immediate medical attention when faced with similar symptoms.
The MTV personality, who is currently pregnant with her second child, took to Instagram to detail the alarming episode involving her two-year-old son. Holly posted two images of Alpha-Jax with a visibly swollen eye, noting that the infection was far more serious than she initially realized.
âWhile we thought it might have been conjunctivitis at first, the doctors quickly diagnosed him with peri-orbital cellulitis, a severe eye infection,â Holly explained. She continued, âIf your child or even you have an eye like this, seek urgent medical treatment immediately.â
Periorbital cellulitis, an infection of the eyelid and surrounding areas, can develop from minor injuries, insect bites, or scratches. Holly, sharing her experience, emphasized the importance of not waiting for symptoms to improve on their own. âThe doctor told me itâs critical to treat this infection immediately, as it can lead to orbital cellulitis, which can have severe complications including vision loss and brain infections,â she warned.
Thankfully, after receiving the prescribed antibiotics, Alpha-Jax is showing signs of improvement. However, Holly expressed concern for others who might not realize the severity of such infections. âMany parents said they waited, only to end up in the hospital as the condition worsened. I want to make sure no one else underestimates how quickly it can escalate,â she shared.
Despite the emotional toll, Holly has been balancing the challenging moments with joy, as she embraces the anticipation of welcoming her second child. In December, she and her husband, Jacob Blyth, celebrated the news of expecting a baby girl, a moment captured during a heartfelt gender reveal surrounded by their son and festive cheer.
Hollyâs message serves as a stark reminder to act swiftly when it comes to eye health, particularly in young children, ensuring that dangerous infections are addressed before they escalate into more serious conditions.
