Speaking live on air during Rylan’s BBC Radio 2 show on Saturday, Linda recalled the terrifying moment in her own words.
“I just went flying and I hurt my arm again,” she told listeners, confirming later that her shoulder had fractured and her arm was now “black” with bruising and “so sore”.

Rylan admitted the phone call he received that morning was one he will never forget.
“Well that was a lovely call I got — you on your way to the hospital,” he said on air. “But it could’ve been worse. It could’ve been your arm and your leg like we’ve had before.”

The presenter went on to urge his mum to slow down and take care while she recovers, telling fans that she is being well looked after. After playing a song requested by his mum, Rylan thanked listeners for the wave of supportive messages pouring in.

“So many of you getting in touch, thank you. She is alright by the way,” he reassured.
“She’s fractured her shoulder — I just can’t help her, you know what she’s like, rushing around doing stuff. In all fairness though, it was just an accident. She slipped on ice.

The latest scare comes only months after Rylan revealed that Linda had been rushed to Princess Alexandra Hospital in July. At the time, he shared an emotional update on Instagram, explaining he would not be hosting his Radio 2 show while he stayed by her side.

“Mummy Linda isn’t well sadly so I won’t be hosting the show tomorrow,” he wrote.
“Thank you to the emergency team at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Especially Tanya who really looked after my mum. Will keep you updated as she’s on the mend. She’s a trooper x.”

Rylan later added that Linda was recovering well, posting:
“She’s doing really well thankfully. All going good. Cheers for all your messages x. Now chatting away with a lovely lady next to her — on the mend!”

The devoted mother-and-son duo have been firm favourites on Channel 4’s Gogglebox since 2019, although they were forced to miss the latest series because of Linda’s ongoing health issues.

In 2023, Rylan also revealed his mum had suffered another horror fall while in Marbella, requiring emergency surgery before the pair flew home on a private plane.

Linda’s health battles have been well documented over the years. She has lived with Crohn’s disease since her 30s — a chronic condition that causes inflammation of the digestive system — and has undergone multiple operations to remove damaged sections of her bowel. She takes numerous medications daily and previously endured a six-week hospital stay in 2017.

The condition, which affects around one in 1,200 people in the UK, can cause severe symptoms including diarrhoea, abdominal pain, fatigue and weight loss.

In 2018, Linda also contracted sepsis, a life-threatening infection that nearly claimed her life. Rylan later opened up about how deeply the illness has impacted their family.

“My mum lost her job because of the disease — it totally dictates her life,” he previously said.
“When she was diagnosed it really hit her hard. The earlier you pick it up the easier it is to control. I grew up with it as well because she was ill — it’s scary and it’s life-threatening.

“It was hard when I was younger because sometimes she couldn’t come on school trips, and other times she was so embarrassed about her symptoms that I couldn’t have my mates over.”

For now, Rylan says his mum is resting and focusing on recovery — but fans across the country are once again holding their breath for one of television’s most-loved mums.
