A royal biographer has alleged that Princess Eugenieâs husband was left alarmed by a demand made by Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor about their wedding. Princess Eugenie, 36, married Jack Brooksbank, 39, on October 12, 2018.
According to royal author Hugo Vickers in his book Queen Elizabeth II A Personal History, Andrew âpersuadedâ a company to film the wedding after it became apparent none of the major networks would cover it, but Mr Brooksbank was âalarmedâ that Andrew âinsistedâ on a procession through Windsor.
He wrote: âOn 12 October 2018 Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank in St Georgeâs Chapel. This was a happier wedding.
âIt did not attract as much publicity, and the Duke of York was annoyed that it would not be filmed for the major networks, though he persuaded a company to record it.
âThe groom was alarmed that Prince Andrew insisted on a procession through Windsor, afraid that no one would be there to cheer them. But Windsor loves a procession and there was a good crowd.â
The claim about Princess Eugenieâs wedding comes amid questions about the role she and her sister Princess Beatrice will play in the Royal Family in the future.

This speculation has been swirling due to the fallout from questions over Andrewâs relationship with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein.
As she turned 36 earlier this year, one royal journalist remarked that they hoped there would be some way for both Beatrice and Eugenie to find a role within the Royal Family.
Matt Wilkinson said he believed that King Charles wanted to try his best to include the pair, after they went through a period of âcrisisâ.
He explained: âIâve got sympathy for both Beatrice and Eugenie, and Iâd like to see them somehow rehabilitated and used properly in the Royal Family.
âI think the King wants her, wants them both, to not pay for the sins of their parents, but Iâm not sure there is mass public sympathy for them at the moment. Theyâre probably going through a complete and utter personal crisis.â

Mr Wilkinson explained that, fortunately, both of them had strong support networks around them, including from their husbands who would help them through this difficult time.
He added: âI donât like bad things to happen to people when they havenât actually done anything wrong themselves, but I think they can cope.
âI think there are enough support structures around them and enough money. Their husbands are both very supportive and rich, so I think theyâll be able to cope.â
As recently as last month, Eugenie was spotted in Switzerland skiing with her family, but reportedly kept a low profile on her birthday.
ReachPlc has approached Mr Brooksbank for comment over the matter in relation to his wedding.
