šŸ”„šŸŽ SNL WEEKEND UPDATE ROASTS JD VANCE’S BOOK — A CONTROVERSIAL SKETCH SPARKS BACKLASH, LAUGHTER, AND UNEXPECTED CHAOS ACROSS SOCIAL MEDIA

The Catholic church says Vance’s new book is ā€œsomehow the worst publicity we’ve ever had,ā€ Colin Jost jokes

Saturday Night Liveā€˜sĀ Weekend UpdateĀ roasted Pam Bondi afterĀ Donald TrumpĀ fired her as attorney generalĀ this week, and took aim at Vice President JD Vance’s book about how he decided to become a Catholic at age 34.

ā€œThis week, Attorney General Pam Bondi was asked to redact herself from her job,ā€Ā Colin JostĀ began. ā€œPresident Trump reportedly fired Bondi over her handling of the Epstein files, because the only person Trump has trusted to handle the Epstein situation was a prison guard with the cameras off.ā€

Jost then alluded to an undated photo from the Epstein files of Trump with several women whose faces were blacked out.

ā€œIf I was Trump, I’d be mad too, if someone took a Sharpie and drew all over my favorite memories,ā€ he joked.

Later, Jost took aim at Vance’s new book,Ā Communion:Ā Finding My Way Back to Faith.

ā€œThe Catholic Church is calling it, ā€˜Somehow the worst publicity we’ve ever had,ā€™ā€ he joked.

Vance’s views on immigrationĀ were criticized byĀ Pope Francis, and Pope Leo XIV has done the same.

Last February, at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast in Washington, VanceĀ called himselfĀ a ā€œbaby Catholic,ā€ acknowledging there are ā€œthings about the faith that I don’t know.ā€

Also in the segment, co-anchorĀ Michael CheĀ took a shot at Trump—figuratively speaking.

ā€œTrump went to the opening night ofĀ ChicagoĀ at the Kennedy Center, and I think that’s cool—that the president is going to the theater,ā€ he said suggestively. ā€œI mean, what’s the worst that could happen?ā€
