TalkTV presenter Mark Dolan was joined on his breakfast show by Grant Harrold, who was a former butler to King Charles. During a candid chat during Monday’s edition of the programme, the broadcaster pressed the former royal staff member on Prince Harry’s intentions amid his ongoing security row.
It comes after a man wearing a balaclava allegedly ran towards the former prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor while he was walking his dogs. Police were called to a report of a man behaving in an intimidating manner in the village of Wolferton, near the Sandringham Estate, earlier this month. Norfolk Police confirmed the suspect was taken to King’s Lynn for questioning and remains in custody.
The incident was near Marsh Farm, the property on the Sandringham Estate that the former Duke of York moved to after leaving Royal Lodge in Windsor due to his association with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has always denied any wrong doing.

“This will strengthen the resolve of the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, to get the royal protection he seeks when he is in the UK,” Mark remarked.
The former royal butler replied: “I think this is going to go in [Harry’s] favour because you can hear him saying to his father or his advisor, ‘this is why we need security. Look what happened to my uncle and I’m in a similar situation with somebody in the UK.’”
Grant claimed King Charles often takes solo walks around his estate with his security detail largely staying at a distance.
He continued: “I think it’s extraordinary that his own son Harry, who knows this, wants to have an almost presidential detail around him which is ludicrous. It costs a lot of money.

“This is why the King is being so careful because he is aware that his own money is being used to protect these individuals.”
The Duke of Sussex, 41, lost taxpayer-funded security in the UK after he and wife Meghan Markle stepped back from senior royal duties in 2020 — one of the reasons why he hasn’t been back home much since moving to California.
