Josie Gibson made it clear whose side she’s on as she weighed in on the I’m A Celeb feud between Adam Thomas and David Haye during Friday’s Good Morning Britain
Josie Gibson launched into a scathing tirade on David Haye live on Good Morning Britain a she accused the boxer of showing his “dark side” on I’m A Celebrity. Josie, who starred in the 2023 series of the show, was on Thursday’s ITV daytime talk show to talk about her own programme, How To Clean Up For Cash.
Talk quickly turned to her celebrity friend Adam Thomas, and his unpleasant experience on the I’m A Celebrity All Stars series in South Africa. Adam was crowned the Ultimate Legend on Friday night after furious arguments broke out on-screen between him and co-stars David Haye and Jimmy Bullard – after David and Jimmy argued the fight had been unfairly edited.
During their time in the camps, scenes filmed last year but that only aired this month, showed the Emmerdale star embroiled in a savage bullying row with the former boxer.
Adam found it hard to deal with David’s constant jibes, but said he didn’t tell producers how he was feeling in a bid to power through the experience.
David was massively criticised by viewers as they dubbed him a bully for his behaviour towards Adam, which included mocking him for not offering to take part in a trial due to sickness.
After being questioned on the situation, Josie had her fair share to say on her “lovely” friends Adam and his brothers Scott and Ryan. Josie said they’re the “kind of guys you would like your daughter to bring home”.
Addressing the situation between Adam and David, Josie said: “What David Haye did to him is the dark side of fame. He saw him [Adam] as a winner and tried to play with his mind. It’s just not fair, it’s not right.”
Adam admitted he was forced to speak to his therapist about David’s treatment of him during filming for I’m A Celeb after he was accused of lacking the “mental strength” to compete.
The star broke down in tears as he spoke out on the situation for the first time in an emotional episode of his family’s podcast, At Home With The Thomas Bros.
The Waterloo Road actor explained: “It’s so difficult because even when I got out and I explained what I went through, you guys, my friends, you won’t understand what I went through.
“The fact that it’s been turned into entertainment for live television, for a show, for a family show that I loved. I’ve got so much to thank this show for, ten years ago this show put me on the map. Even after the live show and everything that happened, I still can’t escape it.”
Adam said he’s having a hard time with everyone talking about it on social media, adding he is “tired and want it all to go away and be forgotten about”.
Choking back tears, he explained: “The sad truth is that everyone will go on with their lives but for me, this will be in me for the rest of my life. I will live with everything that’s happened from the very start and to the very finish, this is part of my DNA now, it’s made me the person that I am.”
The live final on Friday descended into absolute chaos after Jimmy labelled Adam’s behaviour towards him as “abusive, aggressive and intimidating” as he and David confronted Adam.
He also ripped into hosts Ant and Dec for editing out certain parts of the argument. For his part, David staunchly denied claims of bullying, insisting it was all in good faith and simply banter on both sides.
