Ex-radio presenter Scott Mills has been spotted for the first time since he was axed from BBC Radio 2’s flagship breakfast show. The 53-year-old DJ was sacked from the corporation last month after 27 years on the airwaves following an investigation of “serious sexual offences” against a boy under 16 between 1997 and 2000. He was subsequently cleared of these allegations, but the host was later dismissed from all positions at the corporation following allegations surrounding his “personal conduct”. Since his departure, DJ Gary Davies has been standing in on the breakfast show while BBC bosses work tirelessly behind the scenes to find a long-term replacement.
Now, Mills has broken his cover for the first time, walking his dog through the streets of London with his partner after the pair returned to the UK following a two-week holiday abroad. Photographers snapped the pair on their morning walk, where Mills looked downcast in a black waterproof raincoat, which he layered over a grey T-shirt.

He teamed the look with a pair of dark grey straight-leg jeans and added a white baseball hat and a pair of dark aviator sunglasses as he walked through the cul-de-sac. Taking a break from his traditional clean-shaven look, he could be seen with a five o’clock shadow as he walked with his hands in his pockets, often looking down at his black trainers.
Meanwhile, his husband Sam Vaugh opted for a more sunny attire, rocking a pair of light wash denim jeans, which he paired with a white T-shirt and a camel coloured bomber jacket. Like his husband, he also rocked a white baseball hat and a pair of oversized aviator sunglasses and added a pair of white trainers to his ensemble.
The supportive husband could be seen walking their Cavapoo dog, Teddy, on a lead as he excitedly ran out of the door for his morning walk. The news of his departure was announced just less than a year after he took over the breakfast programme from veteran broadcaster Zoe Ball in 2025.
The move made him one of the highest-paid presenters at the corporation, with his salary being estimated between £315,000 to £319,999. The BBC has since acknowledged that it was aware of a police investigation into a historical sexual offence allegations against Mills back in 2017.

However, it maintained that the company “acted decisively” upon receiving new information that the teenage boy at the centre of the investigation was under 16 in the weeks leading up to his dismissal. His exit has left bosses scrambling to find a replacement, and reports are suggesting there are currently two favourites leading the field.
According to Alex Apati on behalf of Ladbrooks, both Vernon Kay and Sara Cox are listed at 3/1 odds to land the coveted gig, closely followed by Rylan Clark at 5/1 and Clara Amfo and Gary Davies, who are both at 6/1. Cox has already been revealed as Mills replacement as commentator for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
