BBC Radio 2 star Vernon Kay has made a cheeky “biased” confession against his wife, Strictly Come Dancing legend Tess Daly, as he enjoyed a break from his presenting duties. The 51-year-old took to Instagram to share some topless snaps of his holiday as he frolicked about in the sea, wearing a pair of swim shorts designed by his other half.
He posed in a few different pairs, as he coupled them up with sunglasses and soaked up the sun. Captioning the social media post, which has attracted more than 8,500 likes at the time of writing, Vernon penned: “Very grateful for a knockout week in the sunshine…And proud to be rocking @naia_beach men’s swim shorts. I am biased as they’re a @tessdaly design, but they are THE comfiest shorts I’ve ever drank rum punch in!! (And swam in of course!!)” Tess was one of the first to comment as she applauded his praise and returned it. She wrote: “Whoo-hoo looking good in your @naia_beach swim shorts.”
The beach brand was founded by Tess and pal Gayle Lawton back in 2021 aiming to help women feel confident and comfortable. On its Instagram page, the brand’s strapline reads: “Luxury beach & active wear designed in London“.
Some fans began to make digs at how often the BBC star gets away from the radio studio. Someone asked: “How many weeks holiday do you take a year?” Vernon replied: “As many as I can!! Life’s too short.”
Others shared how much they are missing him on the airwaves. One wrote: “Ok @vernonkay enough now… we miss you on BBC2 and need you back pronto!!”
Another echoed: “Looks amazing. Missing you on the radio, not the same and a big yawn fest! Come back!”
A third commented: “Lovely but FFS come back to work. It’s be soooo dull without you. (And Scott). I’ve turned off in the mornings, until you’re back. @djsaracox and @jowhiley are the only ones I’m tuning in for!”
Just over a fortnight after it was confirmed BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show presenter Scott Mills had been sacked from the corporation, two huge names have emerged as frontrunners to take over his role – with one of those being Vernon.
