Jeremy Kyle has slammed Good Morning Britain presenter Ed Balls after accusing him of making a “disgusting” on-air comparison during a discussion about antisemitism. The former ITV daytime host launched his attack while speaking about a recent exchange on GMB, claiming Balls’ remarks during an interview with Jewish campaigner Dov Forman were an example of troubling rhetoric in mainstream media. The TalkTV host did not hold back as he dissected the segment, saying: “Ed Balls making the analogy between Trafalgar Sq is a DISGUSTING example of antisemitic rhetoric that is prevalent in the media!”

He went further, accusing broadcasters of failing to confront hatred directly out of fear of public backlash. Kyle said: “Too many people in the media are worried what the audience might think if they actually cared about Jewish hatred.” The flashpoint centred on Balls’ questioning during a live discussion about antisemitism and community tensions. In the interview, Balls raised criticism directed at London Mayor Sadiq Khan for praying with a Muslim group in Trafalgar Square.

Balls asked Forman: “And Dov, when you see last week the shadow justice secretary Nick Timothy singling out the mayor of London Sadi Khan for praying in Trafalgar Square in a Muslim group and saying that is wrong and shouldn’t happen.

“Isn’t that the kind of intolerance and divisiveness which is causing problems in the Jewish community right now? Do you condemn that as well?”

Forman pushed back, insisting the issue being discussed should remain focused on antisemitism rather than broader political disputes.

He replied: “Well, look, I think that the shadow justice secretary was making a point which many people in this country feel about Islamist extremism.

“I won’t get drawn into a debate on whether his words were right or wrong. We’re here to talk about the anti-semitic attack on the Jewish community.”

Kyle argued that introducing other topics into the discussion diluted the seriousness of the situation facing Jewish people.

He said: “That plays into the narrative. Ed Balls making that analogy is a disgusting example in my humble opinion of the sort of antisemitic rhetoric that is prevalent — that’s very irresponsible broadcasting isn’t it?”

Forman also criticised the wider response from politicians and authorities, claiming Jewish communities feel increasingly unsafe.

He said: “Successive governments have let the Jewish community down… many Jewish people will have questioned again, is this a country I want to continue to live in?”

Forman added that security measures alone were not enough to tackle the underlying causes of hatred, warning that some families were considering leaving Britain altogether.
