The 70-year-old Gardeners’ World favourite, who usually welcomes viewers into his beloved Longmeadow garden in Herefordshire, is stepping away from home soil for an ambitious new BBC Two project.My English Home: Monty Don

The upcoming programme will follow Monty as he journeys along one of Europe’s most iconic rivers — the Rhine — exploring gardens steeped in history and culture across four different countries.

Last week, Monty dropped the first real hint to his 1.3 million Instagram followers, posting a behind-the-scenes photo from a recording studio as he worked on the show’s commentary.Monty Don
