Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 21, and Muhammad Amaad, 26, denied assaulting Greater Manchester Police constable Zachary Marsden near the car park area of Terminal 2 on July 23, 2024. Amaaz was previously convicted of assaulting two female officers, PC Lydia Ward and PC Ellie Cook, and a Starbucks customer during the same alleged incident. He will be sentenced on June 26.
Footage shows Amaad trying to “de-escalate the situation” as he strikes PC Marsden multiple times and punches PC Lydia Ward in her face. He is then Tasered and falls to the ground before being kicked in the face on the ground.

Richard told TalkTV presenter Jeremy Kyle: “The video you’ve just shown shows that Mohammed Amaaz punching PC Marsden at least six times in what it looks like a very hard and aggressive way. And unbelievably, the jury had concluded that that wasn’t an assault on the police officer. It absolutely beggars belief. It’s crystal clear, I’m absolutely fuming.”
The presenter said he had to be careful while explaining that there are “certain people on the jury” who have decided that Amaad is innocent before he lashed out: “How did you not find him guilty? That’s absolutely disgraceful!”
The politician agreed and said he is “disgusted by the court’s decision”, adding: “He has literally punched PC Marsden six times in his face, and the idea that this is not an assault on the police officer is completely absurd. It’s tragic to say, we trust and rely on our jury system; we don’t want David Lammy to reduce it. But something has gone very badly wrong here. This guy has gone away, and look at him, scot-free.”

He continued and mentioned he had worked hard with the party leader Nigel Farage to pursue a private prosecution of the defendants.
Explaining to Jeremy on the radio, he said: “It’s truly shocking, and the fact that it took three days for the true footage to emerge. And that footage only emerged because a whistleblower actually leaked it. Because Greater Manchester Police were not going to leak it. They would not stand up for their own police officers. This whole case is ever only prosecuted because Nigel Farage and I said we were going to pursue a private criminal prosecution unless their CPS have their backside and conduct a proper criminal prosecution.”
An investigation by The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) remains ongoing into the use of force by Greater Manchester Police officers.
