Strictly Come Dancing has seen a slew of Emmerdale stars join over the years from Kelvin Fletcher to Lewis Cope.

However, one village legend has ruled out ever appearing on the BBC One dance competition. In recent scenes, Ross Barton, played by Michael Parr, has been teaching Sam Dingle, played by James Hooton, to dance all in order to impress Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick).

With the dance lessons and rehearsals, Ross found a new connection with Laurel Thomas, played by Charlotte Bellamy, with the two starting a fiery affair.

After nearly being caught by Sam, Laurel has recently found herself as Sam’s dance partner as Ross continues to give Sam secret ballroom and latin lessons.

With Laurel, as well as Ross and Sam, getting stuck into dancing on the ITV soap, Laurel actress Charlotte Bellamy has ruled out ever appearing on Strictly.

The actress, 53, who has been on the ITV soap since 2002, joked to the Express and other media at a recent press event: “Well, I just realised I’d never do Strictly, never do Strictly.

“I would do Strictly if I was good at dancing but I’d be the Ann Widdecombe! It’s really hard [dancing]!”

It comes as Emmerdale has been airing a love triangle in the village. Only recently, Laurel’s former stepdaughter Gabby Thomas has been enjoying flirting with Ross.

However, Gabby is unaware that Ross has been having an affair with her former stepmother Laurel and in recent scenes, Gabby tried to make a move on Ross to which he firmly shut her down.

This rejection will lead to a big storyline for Gabby with actress Rosie Bentham telling us at the same press event: “I’m really, really excited to see what is gonna happen in the next year. It’s gonna be really good. This is just the tip of the iceberg. It’s where it all starts.

“I feel like she’s always had that want to prove herself. She’s a 24-year-old girl and so social media and everything is so, especially, you’ve got to shrink yourself to feel validated and feel part of society and find your place.

“Getting rejected on top of that, it spirals and I think she’s looking for something else to put a focus on and what can be seen as quite a healthy thing, investing in your health and everything, at what point does that become an obsession and unhealthy? So it’s where that’s going to go which I actually don’t know yet, but it will be exciting to see.”
