Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a powerful message to his critics after roaring back into form with a historic double in Portugal’s 5-0 win over Uzbekistan at the 2026 World Cup.
After Portugal’s disappointing 1-1 draw with DR Congo in their opening match, Ronaldo found himself at the centre of intense debate. Questions were asked about his role, his age and whether Roberto Martínez’s team functioned better without making everything revolve around their captain.
