Nancy Guthrie won over the hearts of Today viewers when she appeared on the show smiling and laughing, but a legal expert has suggested it could also have led to a sinister outcome.

The 84-year-old grandmother was reported missing on February 1 after failing to attend a planned virtual church service. As the search for Nancy continues, a video of her on the Today show has resurfaced.
The clip was originally filmed in 2013 and gave viewers a rare glimpse inside Nancy’s bedroom, where it’s believed she was kidnapped from. It comes after a chilling new theory emerged on how Nancy Guthrie was sickeningly taken from her home.

In the Today show segment, Nancy was seen speaking to her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, as she showed the Today hosts her perfect daily bed-making routine. Nancy appeared to be in good spirits as she smiled and waved to the camera, while joking with the show’s stars.

Despite the sweet nature of the video, legal expert Chad D. Cummings has suggested Nancy’s eventual kidnapper could have looked back on the footage to obtain a floor plan of her bedroom.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror US, he said, “The video segment gave the abductor access to a floor plan. This should serve as a warning not to post photos or videos of one’s home online whilst living there (obviously, selling or renting the house is a different story).”

Sharing another warning, Chad said, “The same goes for posting even seemingly innocuous information on social media that could give criminals an edge.” He also revealed what kind of information could have been obtained from watching the clip.

“A person who studied that footage knew which side of the bed Nancy slept on, knew the room had tile (not carpet, which would muffle footsteps and allow a quieter approach), and knew the nightstand lamp was the only light source,” he told us.

In the resurfaced Today show segment, Nancy told the hosts, “Well, I think everybody needs to know how to make a bed. So, when the time came to teach [Savannah and her siblings] how to make a bed, this is what I tried to teach you.”

As she showed off her skills, she joked, “All three of the kids thought [bed-making] was a really worthless skill.” Nancy then had a sweet back-and-forth with the hosts before Savannah concluded by saying, “Love you mom.”

It comes as the mysterious disappearance of an Air Force general has several chilling similarities to the Nancy case.
