A guest on Sky News said that it is “a total humiliation that the King is effectively being sent to the U.S.” after Donald Trump confirmed a state visit will be happening later this month. Deputy leader of the Liberal Democrats, Daisy Cooper, appeared on the news channel to discuss the latest headlines surrounding the situation.

She was asked if Trump saying that the “war is nearly over” has eased her mind at all. She replied: “No, not at all. I think that it is a total humiliation that the King is effectively being sent there. I think that it is a humiliation for him and it is a humiliation for our country. Donald Trump has said appalling things about the service and sacrifice of British personnel during previous wars. He has ridiculed our Royal Navy and inflicted these illegal taxes on Iran, which has been hitting ordinary British people in the pocket through the rising cost of living.”

The politician continued: “And the idea that we are going to somehow reward that behaviour by giving him the one thing that he wants, the honour of hosting our King, I think is pretty outrageous.”

Daisy is not the first person to take aim at the Royals after they made the decision to visit Trump.

Good Morning Britain’s Narinder Kaur openly bashed the King and Queen for continuing to snub Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, despite them going on the US visit.

The presenter reshared a Truth Social post from the American leader, which read: “Melania and I are pleased to announce that Their Majesties, the King and Queen of the United Kingdom, will visit the United States for a Historic State Visit from April 27-30th, which will include a beautiful Banquet Dinner at the White House on the evening of April 28th.

“This momentous occasion will be even more special this year, as we commemorate the 250th Anniversary of our Great Country. I look forward to spending time with the King, whom I greatly respect. It will be TERRIFIC!”

The GMB star added her own thoughts, as she captioned the post: “It’s strange King Charles will make time to visit the man who trolled our courageous servicemen and women but hasn’t made the effort to even visit his own son and grandkids!!”
