Rav Wilding steps in to host BBC Morning Live as Gethin Jones’ absence explained
Helen Skelton informed BBC Morning Live viewers that Gethin Jones wasn’t on the show as usual as she was joined by Rav Wilding.
Helen Skelton was swift to explain to viewers why her usual co-host, Gethin Jones, was absent from the studio on Monday.
At the beginning of Morning Live, Helen and Rav Wilding chatted to their contributors to discover what topics they’d be covering on the BBC programme.
While celebrating one of their colleagues’ accomplishments, Dr. Kas completing the Manchester Marathon this weekend, Rav informed BBC audiences they’d be catching up with him later.
Helen continued: “One member of the Morning Live team who is not here because he’s swapped the studio for the boardroom, our very own Gethin Jones!
“No, he hasn’t taken a career turn, he’s been announced as one of the latest candidates taking part in the Celebrity Apprentice.”
An image from the forthcoming series was then displayed, showing Gethin seated beside a standing Lord Alan Sugar on one side and Love Island champion Toni Laites on the other, reports Wales Online.
Helen observed: “I know it’s not the reaction he was going for, but bless him in his little suit!” Rav chipped in, “Look how happy he is, look at him.”
Discussing some of the other contestants participating, including Gladiator’s Sheli McCoy, who goes by Sabre on the BBC One programme, Rav stated: “I would not want to get on the wrong side of Sheli in the boardroom.”
A total of 12 familiar faces are set to participate in the inaugural full-length series of Celebrity Apprentice alongside Gethin, Toni, and Sheli. Also stepping up to Lord Sugar’s gruelling business challenges are Alexandra Burke, Danny Miller, Jordan Banjo, and Kay Burley.
Online personalities Maddie Grace Jepson, Max Balegde, DJ Spoony, Richie Anderson, and Laura Smyth are also set to feature in the series.
Across the six episodes, BBC viewers will watch the celebrities tackle weekly business challenges, all vying for the opportunity to secure a £100,000 donation for a charity of their choice.
Commenting on the upcoming series, Lord Sugar said: “We’ve not done anything like this before, and it’ll be entertaining to see these 12 celebrities being put through six weeks of some brilliant business challenges.
“But just because they’re celebrities, it doesn’t mean they’re going to get an easy ride, especially when there’s £100,000 at stake for their chosen charity.”
The Celebrity Apprentice will see the iconic boardroom uprooted to a London City skyscraper, offering a striking new backdrop for Lord Sugar’s final deliberations.
Since the line-up was revealed, fans have wasted no time sharing their enthusiasm, with many already tipping potential winners.
One person said: “OMG TONNNNNI YOU’VE GOT THIS.” Someone else commented: “I am already rooting for Gethin Jones to win. Will be glued to this one.”
Another person wrote: “Woooooo go Maxi!! @max_balegde to win!” While yet another declared: “Toni to win.”
Further details regarding The Celebrity Apprentice are expected to be announced in due course.
