In one of the most horrifying mass killings in recent American history, 31-year-old Army veteran Shamar Elkins carried out a cold-blooded rampage on a quiet Sunday morning in Shreveport, Louisiana — gunning down eight children, seven of them his own flesh and blood.
The victims, ranging in age from just 1 to 14 years old, were executed in what police describe as a domestic tragedy that quickly spiraled into unimaginable horror. One child desperately tried to escape by climbing onto the roof, only to be shot down in a final act of brutality.

Elkins also shot and wounded two women, including the mother of several of the children, before leading police on a chase and being fatally shot by officers.
The shocking massacre has left the entire community of Shreveport reeling in grief and disbelief. Neighbors described the scene as “pure hell,” with multiple crime scenes across different locations as the gunman moved between houses.

Authorities are now investigating the full timeline and possible motive, with early reports suggesting the attack stemmed from ongoing domestic issues, including a pending divorce.
This devastating tragedy marks one of the deadliest attacks on children in the U.S. in recent years, sparking renewed horror and heartbreak across the nation.
