😱🕵️‍♂️ Mystery deepens as body discovered during search for 79-year-old woman last seen walking with her stick near university grounds

A body has been found in the search for a 79-year-old woman who vanished near the University of East Anglia.

Jill Grint was last seen near her home in Earlham, a village in Norwich, at around 10.30am on Friday.

But a body was recovered yesterday afternoon from the River Yare in Cringleford, about one mile south of where Jill’s most recent sighting.

Passersby spotted the body in the river, which runs through the Norfolk area.

While formal identification has yet to take place, Jill’s family have been informed.

The death is not believed to be suspicious.

Police searching for a missing 79-year-old woman in Norwich have released new images captured on a doorbell camera. The images show Jill wearing different clothing to what had been initially reported. She is wearing a blue coat, navy trousers, navy trainers and carrying what appears to be a yellow bag. Jill, who has shoulder length grey hair, is using her walking stick. Officers have been carrying our searches since this afternoon when Jill was reported missing. She was last seen near her home address in Sarah William Close, Earlham, around 10.30am. Police dogs, the drone team and the police helicopter have all been part of the search and enquiries are continuing this evening. Officers remain concerned for her welfare and anyone who has seen Jill or knows of her whereabouts should contact Norfolk Police on 101 quoting reference 253 of 5 December.
