Gemma Artertonâs got a conspiracy to solve in Secret Service.

ITVâs brand new spy thriller Secret Service is making its premiere on TV tonight, premiering at 9pm. Or if you donât want to wait, you can stream all five episodes right now on ITVX.
Episode 2 airs on TV tomorrow night at the same time, while the final three episodes air on Sunday, next Monday and next Tuesday.
The show stars Gemma Arterton as senior MI6 officer Kate Henderson, who discovers intelligence that suggests a high-ranking British politician is working for Russia.

The official synopsis for the âgripping and timely thrillerâ reads: âAs trust fractures within the corridors of power, Kate is drawn into an increasingly dangerous web of deceit, where shifting loyalties and personal stakes collide â and exposing the truth could cost her everything.
âAs a brutal murder thrusts her team into the spotlight, Kate must navigate the dangerous world of espionage while trying to hold her family together and protect her reputation.â
As well as Arterton, the cast includes Happy Valleyâs Mark Stanley, Line of Dutyâs Rochenda Sandall, The Thick of Itâs Roger Allam, Life of Piâs Rafe Spall, and Doctor Whoâs Alex Kingston, to name just a few.
The series has been directed by The Theory of Everythingâs James Marsh, while the script had been adapted from the novel by Tom Bradby, the same Tom Bradby who also presents the ITV News at Ten.

At the time of writing, thereâs only one critic review out there, published by Radio Times.
Interestingly, the review actually knocks the show for featuring too many real-life ITV presenters, calling it âthe most distracting casting choiceâ and labelling it as blatant âcross-promotionâ.
âOnce real-life figures such as Robert Peston, Susanna Reid and Ed Balls begin grilling fictional politicians in cameo roles,â the review reads, âit becomes harder for seasoned actors like Alex Kingston and Roger Allam to leave much of an impression.â
Will other reviews agree? Weâll have to see once more are published.
