Emmerdale fans saw Dawn Taylor vow she and Joe Tate were over and that she’d make him pay by teaming up with Cain and Moira Dingle on the ITV soap, ahead of her exit
Dawn Taylor’s exit plot may have just been confirmed on Emmerdale.
It was recently reported that the character, played by actress Olivia Bromley, would be leaving the show after eight years. It was claimed the character had been written out, ad that Olivia will be filming her final scenes later this year.
So with Dawn deciding onscreen this week to take down Joe Tate, could this set up her departure, and has her exit plot been revealed? On Thursday we saw the character torn as she finally realised what her villainous fiancé Joe Tate was like.
Moira Dingle had exposed Joe for his part in her being set up and sent to prison earlier this year. Pregnant Dawn confronted Joe about her claims, but Joe denied it all – leading to Dawn asking Moira for the full truth.
Dawn told Moira: “I’m pregnant with his child. He promised he had nothing to do with what happened to you.” Moira replied: “You really believe that?” before warning her that one day he’ll turn on her.
As Dawn still refused to believe her, Moira warned: “I’m telling the truth. If you choose to believe Joe’s lies then it’s your funeral.” After being told the full details by Moira, Dawn headed back and once again confronted a frustrated Joe.
In the meantime, Moira told Cain about Joe being behind the documents being planted at their home, leading to her being arrested. He was ready for revenge but Moira told him there was no need.
Back at Home Farm, Joe claimed Moira was lying and that he did nothing to her, even swearing on pregnant Dawn’s life. She made a comment that “only a psychopath” would allow Moira to be kept in prison, taking her away from her kids and her husband who had been diagnosed with cancer.
As Joe claimed he was innocent, it was clear Dawn did not believe him and she met up with Cain and Moira in secret. She tearfully told the pair: “I feel like I’m seeing him for who he really is. I blew up my entire life for him.
“I hate what he’s done to you. I hate him and I wanna make him pay.” Cain told her to leave him, and it’s then that Dawn confessed she was considering leaving the village for good.
She said: “Obviously I wanna do that, put the kids in the car and drive off, but this baby is a Tate. Wherever I go they’re gonna find me. Everything’s changed. I can’t stay, I can’t go and I don’t know what to do.”
Moira told Dawn to go back home and act as if nothing had happened. As Dawn commented how she had a wedding to plan and she would have to share a bed with him, Moira warned: “The moment he realises your feelings have changed you’ve lost.”
She told Dawn to be ruthless, but Dawn added: “I don’t want him dead.” Moira quipped that together they could do something “worse than death” and make Joe lose everything.
Moira said: “Break him. Take him for all you can get, every penny. Break his heart at the same time.” Dawn vowed her and Joe were done, and that she was all in taking revenge.
As she left, Moira said to Cain: “Looks like Joe Tate is gonna get what is coming for him way sooner than we thought.” So does this signal Joe’s downfall and Dawn’s exit? Will she flee after fleecing him?
Could he face a grim fate, or might Dawn be caught out and pay the price? The comment about “her funeral” and her having to leave certainly teases an exit is linked to the plot.
