Bradley Walsh has established himself as a household name nationwide through his presenting duties on The Chase.

The beloved television star has recently made his return to our screens alongside his son Barney, 28, for the latest series of Breaking Dad season seven, where the pair venture across Australia with frequently amusing and adventurous consequences.

On Thursday 4 June, Bradley marks his birthday as he reaches 66. While we’re thoroughly familiar with the television presenter in his professional role, his personal life seldom finds itself in the public eye.

Here, we explore Bradley’s life from his celebrated family to his original career aspirations…

Beyond the public gaze, Bradley lives at his impressive £2.5 million converted barn in Essex alongside his wife, Donna Derby.

Donna and Bradley have shared a happy marriage lasting over two decades after tying the knot in 1997. What many fans may not realise is that Donna enjoyed her own moment of fame before becoming Mrs Walsh.

She forged a successful path in the entertainment world as a former dancer and notably featured in Robert Palmer’s legendary 80s music video for Simply Irresistible.

The pair have a son, 28 year old Barney, who has opted to pursue his distinguished parents’ path and launch a career in entertainment. Barney, recognised for his roles on Casualty and co-presenting Gladiators with his father, has built his own television presence, including the hit ITV programme Breaking Dad.

Despite Bradley’s extraordinary achievements on television, The Chase host didn’t always have his sights set on a TV career, having originally embarked on a path as a professional footballer.

In 1979, at just 18 years of age, the now-celebrated TV personality turned out professionally for Brentford. While he never broke into the first team, he remained a consistent presence in the reserves.

His professional trajectory shifted considerably when he secured his debut presenting role on The Wheel of Fortune, before moving into acting, with appearances in Coronation Street, Law and Order, and BBC One’s beloved sci-fi series Doctor Who.

While many admirers are familiar with Bradley’s son Barney, far fewer are aware that he has a daughter, Hayley, from his former relationship with Debby Parker.

Having chosen a life well away from the spotlight, Hayley carved out a career as a reflexologist, specialising in therapeutic foot massage.

Born in 1982, Hayley is the elder half-sibling to Barney, who came along 15 years later. Despite the considerable gap in their ages, the pair share a warm and affectionate bond.

Preferring a quiet life out of the public gaze, Hayley lives in Hertfordshire with her husband Tom and their son Dax, a world away from celebrity glamour.

In November 2021, Hayley welcomed a baby boy, marking a landmark moment as it saw her father Bradley become a grandfather for the very first time.

Delighted by the newest member of the family, he revealed to Saga magazine at the time: “I am a grandfather! My daughter and her husband, Tom, have a baby boy who is coming up to five months old.”
