Kensington Palace has announced that the Princess of Wales will join the King and Queen at a reception marking 125 years of Cancer Research UK. Catherine will join the royal couple at tonight’s reception, held at St James’s Palace, celebrating the charity’s work.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester will also attend the reception. The anniversary event, hosted by The King as Patron of Cancer Research UK, will highlight the charity’s impact and showcase the work of the researchers, clinicians, volunteers, and partners who contribute to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.

She underwent six months of chemotherapy, and in January 2025, she announced that she was in remission. The princess has since resumed full-time royal duties, and last month undertook her first overseas trip since her diagnosis.

The King was diagnosed with cancer at a similar time and continues to receive treatment for the disease.

Tonight’s reception will include immersive installations showcasing the work of the charity, including the charity’s past impact, current work and future innovation.

The King and Queen will view visual representations of how technological innovation is transforming cancer research.

Cancer Research UK has helped to transform how cancer is understood, prevented, detected and treated.

This progress has contributed to a doubling of cancer survival in the UK over the past 50 years and today 8 in 10 people who receive cancer drugs in the UK receive a drug developed by or with Cancer Research UK.
