Meghan Markle was met with fierce backlash after it was revealed that the Duchess had made a surprise visit to the UK, marking her highly anticipated return to the country since 2022. Sky News presenter Rita Panahi was joined by commentator Kinsey Schofield, who slammed the Netflix star and issued a brutal takedown. Rita stated: “The secret trip was revealed after Meghan posted a photo of the card that the British Airways crew gifted the Duchess in recognition of her recent wedding anniversary.

The news programme then shared a photo of the card from the 44-year-old’s Instagram story, which was branded with signatures and messages from the flight crew. The presenter then read out the Royal’s caption: “Thanks to this amazing flight crew for all the love yesterday. Appreciate all your memories and kind words,” Rita continued: “Kinsey, Meghan was travelling home from Geneva, where she spoke about protecting children from the harms of social media,” but the podcaster was unimpressed.

Highlighting the disappointing turnout, the Sky News presenter added: “It was an event where nobody showed up. The footage was rather embarrassing; no one showed up other than the media.”

In her brutal response, Kinsey suggested: “Maybe people are sick of Harry and Meghan grifting off of them and using their pain as media currency. Maybe that’s why the audience numbers are pretty low.

“I think that sharing a card from a group of people hired to serve you reeks of narcissism and doesn’t convince anybody that she’s going to win a popularity contest any time soon.”

“She could time share with the former Prince Andrew; the favourability numbers are so low,” the podcaster claimed. “Why won’t they go away? They are like chlamydia. Why can’t they just go away?”

The last time Meghan made a public appearance in the UK was in 2022 for the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth.

Looking at the card, Ed French, the captain, wrote: “Lovely to have you onboard. Congratulations on the anniversary.”

A source later told PEOPLE Magazine that the Duchess was presented with a bottle of champagne and British sweets for Harry and the children, leaving her “so touched”.

The 12-hour flight departed 26 minutes late, according to flight records, meaning Meghan arrived back in LA at 7.25pm. There are no direct flights from Geneva to LA.

After the post, the mum of two then continued to celebrate her wedding anniversary with plenty of unseen photographs from her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, gushing: “Eight years ago today…”
