“My heart is breaking every day” 💔 Jesy Nelson Shares Devastating Diagnosis Of Her Twins, Leaving Fans United In Grief, Love, And Unwavering Support

Former Jesy Nelson has shared one of the most heartbreaking moments of her life, breaking down in tears as she revealed that her eight-month-old twin daughters have been diagnosed with a severe genetic condition that will leave them unable to walk.

In an emotional video posted to Instagram, the ex-Little Mix star explained that after months of relentless hospital appointments, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe have been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1 — a rare neuromuscular disease that progressively destroys muscle strength.

Jesy told fans that the condition affects “every muscle in the body — legs, arms, breathing, swallowing,” explaining through tears that without treatment, “a baby’s life expectancy wouldn’t make it past the age of two.” Doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital have warned the couple that the twins are unlikely to ever walk or regain neck strength.

The 34-year-old singer admitted the diagnosis has completely shattered the future she imagined for her family. She said the past few months have been “the most heartbreaking time of my life,” adding that she feels like she is “grieving a life I thought I was going to have with my children.”

Jesy explained that it was her mother who first noticed the twins weren’t moving as much as expected. Although health professionals initially reassured her that premature babies can be delayed, further tests confirmed the devastating reality. Time, she said, was critical. The girls have already begun treatment, which Jesy described as lifesaving, stressing that without it, “they would die.”

She revealed that hospital life has become her new normal, admitting she now operates breathing machines and carries out medical procedures no parent should ever have to perform. “I feel like I’ve had to become a nurse,” she said.

Despite the crushing diagnosis, Jesy ended her message with hope, saying she truly believes her daughters will “defy all the odds” with the right support. She also urged parents to push for early diagnosis, highlighting how a simple heel-prick test at birth could change lives.

Jesy welcomed the twins with her partner Zion Foster in May 2025 after a traumatic pregnancy that included weeks in hospital and a long stay in neonatal intensive care. The couple, now engaged, have spoken openly about how the ordeal has strengthened their bond and reshaped their understanding of love and resilience.
