Never flush the toilet after peeing, it’s a big mistake: here’s why

Flushing the toilet after urinating is a gesture that our parents have always instilled in us since we were children: after doing our business we had to flush the toilet because it was hygienic.

From then on, the routine when we go to the bathroom is practically the same everywhere, we urinate and then  quickly rinse the toilet by washing it.

Obviously, since it is such a simple routine, we do not believe that there could be a mistake or that we are doing something wrong, but the truth is that despite the simplicity of this procedure,  we could all be wrong.

At this point it makes you think,  are we really doing the right thing?

What about germs?

We all know that when we flush the toilet, the box ensures that the water from the toilet drains into the bowl.
However, this simple act can actually  cause germs to spread throughout the bathroom.

Therefore, if we do not want our bathroom to become an amusement park for unwanted germs, we can minimize their spread by only flushing the toilet  after closing the top lid.

Water saving

For those who don’t know,  washing involves 3 to 10 liters of water,  it really depends on the cassette we install in our bathroom.

Even so, if every time we go to urinate we waste 3 to 10 liters of water (remember,  this is drinking water ), at the end of the day we will have wasted about 80 liters of water. This calculation is individual, so it is necessary to imagine the resulting expense with a family of 4 people who use the bathroom several times a day!

Close the toilet seat

Wastewater in this manner  is not only bad for us, it is also bad for the entire ecosystem. For this reason, a lower discharge frequency, or at least a reduction, is an excellent way to reduce water waste, especially when it is not necessary.

How many bacteria are there in urine?

Many people believe that urine is sterile. This is false in itself, but the truth is that the number of microorganisms and  bacteria in urine is much lower than those found in our own saliva.

By this we mean that although there are still bacteria, the concentration of these is so low that it is not a problem  to urinate in the toilet for a few hours.

Change the water pressure

Have you ever been in the shower and the toilet flushed? If you have lived with other people, this has probably happened on more than one occasion and we assure you that the water pressure decreases and many times  we also end up showering with cold water without warning.

This can also be affected  if we run the dishwasher or washing machine while someone is showering.  So, to avoid the water pressure changing, it is best to wait until they finish showering to flush the toilet.

Disturbing at night

If we don’t urinate before going to sleep, we’re more likely to  end up going to the bathroom in the middle of the night . This means that when we go to flush the toilet late at night, the noise can make us more awake and even wake others up.

This recommendation to flush the toilet less is valid  only if we are inside our home , on the contrary, for obvious hygienic reasons in public places, the use of flushing is crucial.
