Gogglebox paid an emotional tribute to a producer who died from a brain tumour. The hit Channel 4 programme returned to screens with a new series on Friday evening (February 6), with fan favourites including Jenny and Lee, Ellie and Izzi, Mary and Gyles all back. They were joined by Jake and Calum, Andrew and Alfie, The Gordon family and others who joined the cast during season 26 last year.
When the episode concluded, an image of Jonathan Clough appeared on screen, accompanied by the words: “In memory of Jonathan Clough. 1989 – 2025.” The TV producer was just 35 when he was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma in 2024. Actor Sam Swainsbury set up a GoFundMe after the family launched the campaign to help Jonathan access specialist treatment.
Jonathan and his partner, Tracy Martin, were both forced to abandon their jobs and move from London to Wigan with their two young children to live with her parents after his diagnosis.
On the GoFundMe, Tracy opened up about how the family’s heartbreaking ordeal following Jonathan’s diagnosis.
She wrote: “Two months after that, the results of an MRI brought our world crashing down. Our brilliant Jonathan, at only 35 years old, was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma – an extremely aggressive and incurable brain cancer.”
Jonathan underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy to help fight the disease, but later scans revealed the tumour had grown so much that it was inoperable.

In a post on Instagram, Sam wrote: “Jonathan Clough. Thank you to everyone who donated to, shared and commented on Jonathan’s GoFundMe page. The help and support that poured out was overwhelming. It made an ENORMOUS difference. And opened up so many doors that were previously locked shut.
“He saw his daughter’s first day at school. He then made it to her first play. He then made it to Christmas. He then sadly passed on Boxing Day. He fought for every last second. He exceeded all expectations. He was extraordinary.”
Sam added: “I don’t have many more words than that. I still can’t believe it. But thank you [heartbreak emoji].”
Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Kevin Clifton paid an emotional tribute to Jonathan, who served as a producer on the BBC show from 2017 to 2019.
He penned: “An amazing friend, an amazing man, an amazing father and a heck of a fighter for his amazing family. I will miss you forever [heartbroken emoji].”
