Citadel season 2 has returned to Prime Video with a new mission for the elite spies played by Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden and a spoiler warning for fans from executive producers, Anthony and Joe Russo.

Dropped on the streamer today, Citadel season 2 sees Orlick (Stanley Tucci) putting together a new team after the devastating events of the previous chapter. In season 1, rival agency Manticore, led by Dahlia Archer (Lesley Manville), eliminated most agents working for Citadel, with Dahlia revealed to be Mason’s (Madden) mother.

As Nadia (Chopra) doesn’t trust Mason for obvious reasons, Orlick insists his two top agents must team up once again if they’re to stop a new threat. On Citadel’s radar is a company that had devised a technology capable of coopting anyone’s mind and turning them into an assassin.

Following the release on Prime Video, the Russo Brothers have taken to Instagram to warn Citadel fans off spoilers. In a post, the executive producers advised those who can’t binge the show to “stay off” social media for a while and reminded those who’ve finished watching the series to be mindful of spoilers etiquette.

Citadel fans, Citadel season 2 drops at midnight PST tonight. Every episode. All at once,” the post begins.

“If you don’t like having big surprises spoiled, binge it. Or stay off social media for a few days. Because someone will spoil it for you.”

“And if you watch tonight, please don’t spoil it for someone else.”

“Thanks. Let’s all have each other’s backs. Enjoy!”

While season 2 of Citadel doesn’t have a Rotten Tomatoes score just yet, season 1 has a mixed rating of 51% out of 81 reviews.

Region Free branded the series “a big spectacle on the small screen that for the most part, is as good as any blockbuster you’d see in theaters”, while Film Companion wasn’t sold on the show, calling it “blurry, expensive and empty”.

Elsewhere, The Playlist wrote: “Audiences for action movies are willing to suspend disbelief if the payoff is worth the cost, but Citadel never closes the sale.”

Citadel season 2 is streaming now on Prime Video. Season 1 is available on the same platform.
