Zayn Malik has cancelled more gigs amid his ongoing health woes. The former One Direction star, 33, was set to perform a one-off gig and do a Q&A at Banquet Records in Kingston but cancelled the show just hours before he was due on stage.

Now, the star has given fans another update as he thanked them for their messages but revealed that he has had to pull the plug on various dates of his upcoming tour.

In the post, he wrote: “Thank you so much for all the support and love you’ve shown me on the album release and more importantly your love, prayers, and well wishes for my health. I’ve felt it, and it’s meant the world.

“I’ve been at home recovering and I’m doing well and will be better and stronger than before. I’ve had to take another look at my schedule for the months ahead and have to reduce the number of shows on the KONNAKOL Tour.” He then shared a link to the updated schedule.

The singer will perform in London and Manchester next month, with further gigs lined up in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Peru later this year.

Following the schedule shake-up, Malik has cancelled his 11 tour dates, including his entire US tour as well as shows in Dublin and Birmingham. His US tour was set to begin on July 19 in Philadelphia, followed by stops including Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Chicago, Indianapolis, Nashville, Phoenix, San Diego and San Francisco. On his website, it states that refunds will be issued automatically.

The update comes weeks after he shared a picture of himself from hospital and thanked the “incredible” staff who had looked after him, including doctors, nurses and cardiologists. His cousin Sasha Malik shared how much the family “appreciate the love” fans are trying to show and shared a statement, approved by Zayn and his family, asking for a “meaningful gesture” in place of flowers.

Sasha wrote in an Instagram story: “We’re so grateful for everyone who has reached out to send bouquets! Logistically, it just simply can’t work, but we appreciate you all so much, please donate anything you’d like on Zayn’s behalf to The Palestine Project!”

She added a statement from North West based florist The Hidden Bouquet, which had approval from the Malik family. It read: “Due to the high volume of requests for Zayn Mailk and his family, we are unfortunately no longer able to take any further orders at this time.

“We truly appreciate the love and support show. If you would still like to make a meaningful gesture, the Malik family would greatly appreciate donations being made to the Palestine Project via the link below. You are welcome to donate the amount you would have spent on a bouquet and leave a message of support there. The fundraiser will be checked by the family and your kind words and contributions will go a long way.”

A link to The Palestine Project’s Just Giving page was also added. The page was set up to raise money to help Islamic Relief, an international relief and development charity, provide food, clean water, shelter and emergency medical aid to those living in Palestine amid the conflict with Israel.

Banquet Records announced the news that the initial show had been cancelled and would be rescheduled for a later date via social media. On Sunday 12 April, they said: “Gutted to say Monday’s ZAYN events are postponed due to illness – we send our best wishes for a speedy recovery. We’ll be back to ticket holders later in the coming week. Thanks for your understanding and sorry again for the disappointment.”
