A British Airways employee who helped check in Queen Camilla on her flight back from her state visit to the US was left stunned by her appearance.

Earlier this month, King Charles and Queen Camilla visited the country, and leader Donald Trump, ahead of its 250th birthday. The visit was important given the tensions within the so-called ‘special relationship’ between the UK and USA.

The Daily Mail’s Rebecca English recalled the tale as she appeared on the Palace Confidential vodcast. In a question and answer section of the podcast, one person asked when Queen Camilla left for Bermuda and why it wasn’t televised. They went onto ask where the Queen was now as they hadn’t seen any pictures of her in Bermuda.

However, Rebecca explained that she was told that the Queen was never meant to go to Bermuda which is why she wasn’t there with the King.

She said: “We did actually know from the start that the Queen wasn’t going, it was just going to be the King’s first solo visit to a British overseas territory as monarch and he was going to do those two days on his own.

“Queen Camilla was always going to be travelling back and I checked before she did and I was told she was travelling back commercially, but obviously for security reasons I was asked not to say.”

Rebecca said that, quite by chance, she claimed to have met someone who had seen the Queen as they made their way through Washington’s airport.

She explained: “The next day I was flying back from Washington myself and when I got to the BA check in desk the very friendly lady said ‘What have you been hear doing? Work? Pleasure?’. I was telling her I was covering the royal trip and she went ‘Ah! We saw Queen Camilla as she walked in yesterday’.”

Rebecca added that maybe the staff member had been responsible for checking the Queen in before she said that she added: “‘We couldn’t quite believe it, and she’s got really good skin’, she desperately wanted to chat.”

She said the lady asked: “‘Has she had anything done? What’s her health regime? What’s her skin care regime like?’ She really wanted to chat about it because she was really really impressed.”

King Charles and Queen Camilla’s visit to the USA made waves as hope grew that their visit may improve relations between the two transatlantic partners. However, one person has suggested it could improve the UK’s financial position through tourism.

Speaking to the Express, boss of Visit Britain Patricia Yates suggested that the UK could be newly attractive for American tourists. She said: “Our rich history, culture and heritage hold huge appeal for American travellers. For an American we are a pretty small country and Britain’s renowned heritage, its royal legacy, pomp and pageantry are proven tourism draws.”
