King Charles Keeps Schedule Unchanged As Harry’s Solo London Trip Puts Family Reunion In Doubt
King Charles is reportedly keeping his diary unchanged this week as Prince Harry prepares to return to Britain without Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The Duke of Sussex is expected to arrive in the UK alone after deciding that it would not be safe enough for his wife and children to travel to London amid his ongoing concerns over protective security. The decision appears to have dealt a major blow to hopes of a private family reunion between the King and his youngest grandchildren.
According to the report, the King had been looking forward to the possibility of seeing Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five. The children have not visited Britain since June 2022, when the Sussexes returned for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. Meghan has also not made a full UK visit since the late Queen’s funeral in September that same year.

Charles is said to have met Archie only a handful of times before Harry and Meghan moved to the United States, while Lilibet is understood to have met her grandfather in person only once. That made the prospect of a visit especially significant, particularly as the King continues to balance family matters with a busy programme of official duties.
But palace insiders now suggest that a meeting has become increasingly difficult to arrange. The King has public engagements and private meetings scheduled throughout the week, and sources say there are no plans for last-minute changes to his diary.

One royal source described the continuing uncertainty around Harry’s plans as frustrating, especially because preparations would need to be made for any guest accepting an invitation to stay at a royal residence. Buckingham Palace has reportedly not received clear confirmation that the Duke intends to take up such an offer.
The latest twist follows a turbulent few days around the Sussex visit. Harry and Meghan had previously outlined a UK schedule that included joint engagements in London and Birmingham. However, those plans changed after it emerged that the family would not receive the taxpayer-funded security arrangements Harry has continued to argue are necessary for their safety.
The Sussexes lost automatic publicly funded police protection after stepping back as working royals in 2020. Harry has repeatedly said that security concerns have made it difficult for him to bring Meghan and their children back to Britain, despite his wish for Archie and Lilibet to understand their British heritage.
Reports suggest that the Sussex family has spent recent days in Europe while their private security team explores possible arrangements. Although Meghan and the children are not expected to travel to London, there remains speculation that they could join Harry later in the week outside the capital, depending on security logistics.
One possible focus is Althorp House in Northamptonshire, the Spencer family estate where Diana, Princess of Wales, is buried. Harry is due to attend an event in Warwickshire as ambassador for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, placing him within reach of the estate if any private family plans are made.
There has also been speculation that the Sussexes could meet the King at one of his country residences, such as Highgrove or Sandringham, though the report says no formal request has been made. The Prince and Princess of Wales are also said to have no plans to meet Harry or his family during the visit.
For now, Harry’s trip is expected to focus on his charity work, including engagements connected to the Invictus Games Foundation, WellChild and Scotty’s Little Soldiers. He is also due to receive a ruling in his long-running legal case against Associated Newspapers during the visit, which could draw further attention away from the charitable purpose of the trip.
The result is another deeply complicated chapter in the Sussex royal story. What had been framed as a possible step toward reconnection has instead become overshadowed by security concerns, changing plans and palace frustration.
Whether Meghan, Archie and Lilibet eventually travel to another part of the UK remains unclear. But as Harry prepares to arrive in London alone, the King’s hoped-for reunion with his grandchildren appears, once again, to be slipping further out of reach.
