Pete Wicks reveals secret health issue
On the Staying Relevant podcast in May, Pete discussed his recurring health issue. He shared: âI may have to go back to having an eye patch. Iâm going to tell the truth here.
âI used to be called Pirate Pete, itâs a weird nickname, but actually it was my mum that first called me that when I was a kid because I had a lazy eye when I used to get tired.â
Sam then giggled as Pete asked: âWhy are we laughing at my affliction? So I had this eye patch to try to correct it, which it did, so that was great.â
However, he added: âThe bad eye is coming back as Iâm getting older, itâs going for a walk.â

Sam then asked: âSo what are you going to do?â Pete replied: âI have to go and see an eye specialist to see whether or not we can re-train it or whether I am going to have some kind of surgery.â
Misunderstanding the diagnosis, Sam proclaimed: âThey are going to get rid of the eyeball!â Pete then clarified: âIâm not going to have it removed.â
Pete also revealed Loose Women star and pal Olivia Attwood brought up his eye. Pete said: âIâve started noticing, it was Liv that [bleep]ing noticed it. It was Liv that mentioned it then.â
Pete then admitted it was getting worse as Sam agreed: âIt is getting quite bad.â Pete snapped back: âWell great, Iâm glad I donât feel conscious about it,â before revealing his eye appointment was in a âcouple of weeksâ.
